Tour Plan
🏜️ Day 1: From Marrakech to the Majestic Dades Gorges via Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate (350 km – approx. 6 hours)
Your adventure begins right from the heart of Marrakech. After a warm welcome from your driver-guide, we set off bright and early. As we leave the city behind, you’ll immediately notice how the scenery transforms. Soon, we’re winding our way up the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka Pass, the highest road pass in Morocco at 2,260 meters (7,415 ft). The panoramic views over the High Atlas Mountains are simply jaw-dropping, with scattered Berber villages and terraced fields dotting the hillsides.
But the real magic awaits as we reach Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed kasbah that looks like it stepped out of a storybook. You’ll recognize it from movies like Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and The Mummy. Take your time to explore its mud-brick walls, ancient towers, and winding alleys before we stop for a well-deserved lunch – how about trying a traditional tagine?
Next, we’ll continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” thanks to its famous film studios. Here, you’ll visit Taourirt Kasbah, a fortress that tells tales of Morocco’s past and the power of the Glaoui family.
As we journey deeper into the valley, we travel the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing charming adobe villages and lush oases before reaching the striking Dades Gorges. Towering rock formations and a winding river make this spot perfect for photos and reflection.
End your day with a delicious Moroccan dinner and a cozy night in a beautiful riad nestled right in the heart of the gorge.
🏞️ Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Canyons – Sahara Desert Camel Trek in Merzouga (250 km – approx. 3 hours)
After a hearty breakfast at the riad, we set off toward the stunning Todra Gorges. The route winds through palm groves and mountain passes until you find yourself staring up at towering canyon walls that rise 300 meters (984 feet) high. It’s one of Morocco’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Take a peaceful walk along the cool riverbed and snap photos of these towering cliffs.
Once we’ve soaked in the magic of Todra, we’ll drive to Erfoud, a town famous for its fascinating fossil workshops. This is your chance to see how the Sahara’s ancient sea life is preserved in beautiful marble and stone.
Then, the excitement builds as we approach Merzouga, your gateway to the mighty Erg Chebbi dunes. These golden sand dunes are the perfect backdrop for your next unforgettable experience – a camel trek at sunset! As you sway gently across the dunes on camelback, watch as the sun dips behind the horizon, painting the desert in shades of gold and crimson.
Tonight, you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars at our comfortable desert camp. Gather around the campfire with Berber music and storytelling, creating a magical end to the day.
🌅 Day 3: Sunrise Over the Dunes – Return to Marrakech via Ouarzazate (600 km – approx. 9 hours)
Rise early today – trust us, it’s worth it! Climb the dunes and witness the most spectacular sunrise of your life. As the first rays of light kiss the golden sands, you’ll feel a deep connection to this timeless desert landscape.
After breakfast at the camp, we say farewell to the Sahara and begin our scenic drive back to Marrakech. Along the way, we’ll pass through the fragrant Valley of Roses, famous for its pink blossoms and artisanal rose products. The road also takes us past palm groves, hidden kasbahs, and charming Berber villages tucked into the hillsides.
We’ll make a few scenic stops along the way for photos and short breaks. As we cross back over the High Atlas Mountains, you’ll get a final glimpse of Morocco’s stunning natural beauty before arriving back in Marrakech by early evening.
