🌄 Day 1: Fes » Ifrane » Cedar Forest » Midelt » Erfoud » Merzouga

Your adventure kicks off bright and early in Fes, Morocco’s spiritual capital. After breakfast, we’ll meet at your hotel or riad, where your private driver-guide will warmly welcome you.

Leaving the hustle of the city behind, we drive towards Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland” thanks to its European charm, pristine streets, and alpine architecture. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing coffee and a few scenic photos.

Soon after, we continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains to Azrou, a hidden gem known for its towering cedar trees and cheeky Barbary macaques. Take a moment to feed the monkeys or simply enjoy the peaceful forest vibe.

Our journey then weaves through the changing landscapes toward Midelt, a small mountain town famous for apples and Berber rugs. We’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch here, surrounded by dramatic mountain views.

As the afternoon sun softens, we’ll pass through the lush Ziz Valley, where thousands of palm trees sway along the meandering river. It’s a perfect opportunity to stop and soak in the beauty.

By evening, we arrive in the enchanting desert town of Merzouga, right at the edge of the mighty Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, you’ll hop onto a camel for a magical trek through the golden sands, just in time to catch the sunset.

Your first night in the Sahara will be spent at a comfortable Berber camp, where you’ll savor a delicious dinner, enjoy live drumming around the fire, and sleep under the star-filled sky in your desert tent.

After an early wake-up call to witness the magical Sahara sunrise — a truly unforgettable moment — we return to camp for breakfast.

Refreshed and ready, you’ll ride your camel back to the village where your 4x4 desert excursion begins. Today is all about discovery!

First, we visit Khamlia village, home to the Gnawa people, where you’ll experience their soulful African-rooted music and learn about their history.

Next, we drive through the striking black volcanic desert toward the mines near M’fis, a quiet area where you’ll see how locals extract quartz and fossils from the rugged land.

We then head to visit nomadic Berber families, tucked away in the desert, where you can sit with them, sip fresh mint tea, and hear stories of their nomadic life, passed down through generations.

By afternoon, we’ll circle back to Merzouga for a well-deserved rest at your hotel or riad. Spend the evening as you wish — relax, walk among the dunes, or watch the sunset from a quiet spot.

🏞️ Day 3: Merzouga » Rissani » Erfoud » Ziz Valley » Fes

After breakfast, we start our journey back to Fes. But first, we’ll stop in Rissani, a bustling desert town known for its vibrant souk (market), full of spices, crafts, and the famous Medfouna (Berber pizza).

Next, we visit Erfoud, where artisans craft fossils into stunning decor and jewelry. It’s a great place to pick up a unique souvenir.

Driving north, we pass once again through the Ziz Valley, taking in its palm groves and kasbahs from a new angle, then break for lunch in Midelt or the quaint town of Zaida, depending on timing.

Finally, we pass through Azrou’s cedar forest and Ifrane once more before reaching Fes in the late afternoon. We’ll drop you off at your accommodation, ending a journey that has taken you from ancient cities to the wild Sahara and back.
